Handmade Habitat is a brand featuring earthy, nostalgia-inspired and eco-friendly home décor and accessories. Designer and maker, Amina Ahmad, makes everything from all natural soy candles covered in the pages of literary classics to scarves, bags and pillows, all hand-dyed with tea. With an air of Jane Austen and a touch of rustic simplicity, her work brings easy-breezy fun and life into your home.
The message here is simple - soft, yet wild; old, yet new; structured, yet feminine. Does that make sense? Amina makes as she feels and anything she loves - candles, matches, cozy socks, tote bags, scarves and oh, so much more.
Amina Ahmad came of age in the rolling hills and bushy woods in the less glamorous parts of Maryland and studied the intersection of Environmental Science with Societal Issues at the University of Maryland. She now calls home to the slightly more glamorous, equally as wild, tree towering, hippie neighborhood of Takoma Park, Maryland. When not neck-deep in candle making, you can find her stalking out neighbors' gardens while her mystery breed dog hunts squirrels. She also enjoys re-reading her favorite Jane Austen and Harry Potter novels - often at the same time.
